Students develop their skills through more challenging performance work while building confidence, creativity and independence. Whether they already love performing or are discovering a new interest, every student is encouraged to progress at their own pace.

What happens in a Shooting Stars class?

Students take part in dedicated weekly sessions in Drama, Dance and Musical Theatre, with lessons becoming more challenging and rewarding as their confidence and experience develop.

🎭 Drama

Students develop their acting through script work, improvisation, character development and performance projects, while beginning to explore devising, scriptwriting and stagecraft.

As they progress, they're encouraged to contribute their own ideas, make creative choices and work collaboratively to create original performance work.

💃 Dance

Our dance classes introduce students to a wide variety of dance styles throughout the year, helping them become confident, versatile performers. Styles include:

• Ballet • Lyrical • Contemporary • Street Dance • Modern Theatre • Commercial • Jazz

Students develop stronger technique, musicality, flexibility, coordination and performance quality through increasingly challenging choreography, with opportunities to contribute their own creative ideas.

🎵 Musical Theatre

Students combine singing, acting and movement, developing vocal performance, characterisation, storytelling and stage presence while learning to perform both individually and as part of an ensemble.

Throughout the year, they experience different dance styles, scripts, choreography, creative projects and performance work, while gradually taking greater ownership of their ideas and development.

Developing performers and young leaders

As students grow in confidence and experience, they're encouraged to take greater responsibility — from contributing choreography and creative ideas to helping devise original performances.

There may also be opportunities to lead warm-ups, support younger students at whole-school events and explore audition techniques, developing leadership and communication skills alongside their performance training.

Performance Opportunities

A key part of Stage Stars is giving students opportunities to put their skills into practice. Shooting Stars work towards one main performance each year, alongside other demonstrations, festivals, competitions and special events where appropriate.

Performing gives students valuable stage experience while helping them develop confidence, teamwork and a real sense of achievement.

Students who would like to develop their acting and communication skills further can also explore our LAMDA classes, with the option to work towards nationally recognised examinations.
